Another book review from...

Voice of the library: Hello again!Anyone have a good half term? I know I did! My book this week, set in Alagaesia, is full of dragons and their riders. It was made into a film and is written by Christopher Paolini. Know what it is? Eragon of course! Eragon is just a poor farm boy- or so he thinks! His whole lifecourse is changed by one fateful trip to the Spine (the villagers' nickname for the surrounding mountains) when he discovers a round, blue stone in the forest. Little does he know it's the last genuine dragon egg, and it chooses Eragon to be its rider! This drastic event causes trouble to brew and to prevent it getting any worse Eragon has to leave his old life, his home, his friends and everything he has ever known, to attempt to kill the deranged king Galbatorix and end cruelty in Alagaesia. The question is: will he succeed when his knowledge only extends to helping on his uncle's farm? I give this book 8 3/4 out of 10 because it is exciting, fast moving and brilliant! Anyone in KS2 can read it if they feel like reading a big heavy book, but don't blame me if you don't like it- it is a matter of opinion!

Voice of the Library!

Text ColourVoice of the Library! Hello St Johns! You may not know but I am going to review some books for you so a visit to the library isn't such a pain when it comes to looking for good books. Welcome to Voice of the Library!

My first book is a stunning tale called 'Inkheart'. It is written by an incredible author called Cornelia Funke (she has also written other books- look out for 'Dragon Rider'!). Inkheart is about Meggie and her loving Dad, Mo. Mo is a silvertongue, the name given to someone who can read characters into and out of books. It all started when Meggie's Mum, Resa, got read into a book to take the place of Dustfinger, who got read out of that same book. Dustfinger hates earth and desperately wants to go home to his family, so would do anything to get back. Even create a deal with Capricorn,a character from the book that Dustfinger came out of. Capricorn is a cruel hearted man who strikes fear into the hearts of the brave. Will Meggie and Mo get back Resa, and succeed in sending Dustfinger back to his mysterious world? I would recommend this book to all bookworms like me! If you like it, there is a sequel called 'Inkspell' and after that, 'Inkdeath'.

Global News

Hi, it's Nisha and Bethany and we have a new story for you. Today's story is:

GO CARNIVAL GIRL!!!

It's about a girl who has been picked by her Samba school to lead the group as their queen in the parade. But some people think that she shouldn't be performing because that role is normally given to a much older person. Now a judge will decide next week whether someone so young can perform as a queen in the Carnival. Julia's dad said she was a natural dancer and would be able to cope in the heat.

Hello, our names are Nisha and Bethany. Every morning we come to school early to update our global news board. Todays story is:

Girl fights shark with body-board!

It's about a girl in deep water with her brother when she saw something grey. She looked again and next to her was a shark about 1.5m long! She hit it with her body board and the shark bit her hip before it eventually swam off.
There are also many other stories for you to see.
