Lola looked up at the picture above her desk. It was of Lola on her mum's shoulders in Scotland. That seemed so long ago. She could only remember the holiday by looking at that picture. Lola sighed and looked back at her homework. Her teacher, Miss Harnold ,thought that she should be in the top group but personally Lola thought that she sould be at the bottom let alone in the middle.
"Anyway," she muttered to herself, "Miss has given me some homework and expects me to do it and doing what she expects can't do any harm, can it?"
She was reading the second question when, through the thin floor boards, she heard her mother's stressed voice calling her for dinner.
